Everyone's photos are very special to them whether they be your baby photos, your baby's photos, that unforgettable holiday, your childhood, friends, weddings, growing up, and those special occasions . Your old photos over time can be damaged through wear and tear or through ageing. Colours become less vibrant and whites can change to yellowing or taking on a pink tinge. It's a great time to transfer all your old photos, negatives or slides to digital to preserve them.

We offer a professional high quality transfer service of your photos, negatives or slides to CD, DVD, USB Drive or Portable Hard Drive. Your photos are individually checked and only colour corrected and enhanced after they have been scanned. This way we ensure each photo is at its best when they are returned to you.

Photos

• Photos are scanned at 300dpi or 600dpi. We do recommend the smaller the photo the larger the resolution which will allow the small photo to be printed at 4x6 without losing image quality. You can choose a higher resolution if needed.


• Photos are cleaned with compressed air before scanning.


• Each scanned image is manually colour corrected, brightened or darkened and any minor blemishes will be removed. We do not allow the scanning software to make any of these changes.


• Cropping the photo ensuring no unwanted edges.


• Brightness and contrast if required will be corrected to improve the image.


• Balance the colour of the image by neutralising blacks and whites and remove colour castes where possible. We always remove minor colour castes. We however do not guarantee it on every photo as this does involve a considerable amount of time. We do endeavour to present you with the best quality image.


• For photos stored in old photo albums we do not remove the photo from the adhesive backboard but scan the photo without the plastic protective cover. This way there is no damage to the old photo by trying to remove it.

Negatives and Slides

• Negatives and Slides are scanned at 2400dpi, 3200dpi or 4800dpi. The higher the resolution the larger the print size.


• All negatives & slides are cleaned with compressed air before scanning.


• Your image files are numbered sequentially, Image 001.jpg Image 002.jpg etc. We can place images into named folders which will make it easier for you to find certain images.


• Each scanned image is manually colour corrected, brightened or darkened and any minor blemishes will be removed. We do not allow the scanning software to make any of these changes.


• Cropping the negative or slide ensuring no unwanted edges.


• Orientation (portrait or landscape) of the negative and slide is correct and ensuring wherever possible the slide is not backwards e.g. names of buildings are not backwards etc.


• Brightness and contrast if required will be corrected to improve the image.


• Balance the colour of the image by neutralising blacks and whites and remove colour castes where possible. We always remove minor colour castes. We however do not guarantee it on every slide, negative or photo as this does involve a considerable amount of time. We do endeavour to present you with the best quality image.

If you have photos in photo albums that you would prefer not to remove from the photo albums as they may be brittle or they may tear, we can in most cases scan those photos from the photo album. Check our pricing for this service.
